According to reports in Mexico, Panama's Ricardo "Mathematician" Nunez (21-2, 18KOs) will travel to the Convention Center in Cozumel, Quintana Roo, on September 24, to face Oscar Blanquet in a dangerous WBA eliminator.
Blanquet is ranked in the top ten of all the major sanctioning bodies at 112-pounds. Nunez is the highest ranked boxer under the WBA at 112. Blanquet (29-3, 20 KOs) has won his last seventeen bouts and remains undefeated since 2008. Nunez has won four straight since a five round knockout loss to Drian Francisco in Arpil 2010. Canelo Promotions will stage the event which also features popular boxing brothers Tomoki Daiki Kameda.
