Former two division world champion Ricardo 'El Matador' Mayorga (31-9-1, 25KOs), 42-years-old, is interested in entering the world of politics in Nicaragua.

Mayorga was recently involved in a legal tussle where it was claimed that he stole a cell phone in in Managua. He says the cell phone belonged to his wife and the entire situation was exaggerated by someone who has an agenda against him.

Mayorga is not ready to retire at the moment, but admits that he's very close to the end of his career. He wants to walk away from the sport with a 'big win.'

He is planning to return before the end of the year, likely in Nicaragua, but has no firm date in mind.

The wild fighter is already planning out his post-boxing career and says politics would suit him just fine. He would like to become the mayor of Managua and feels that his popularity with the people will give him a significant boost when it comes time for his countrymen to hit the voting booths.

"I like politics, of course. I would like to be mayor of Managua. Or deputy," Mayorga told Fabrice Lous. "[If I had to rate my seriousness about this from 1-10, I would place it at] 10. I want to be mayor.
