According to reports in Panama, former world champion Ricardo "El Professor" Córdoba will return to fight on July 9 against French boxer Daniel Kodjo Sassou. The fight is going to be scheduled for eight rounds at 122 pounds. Córdoba has a record of 37 wins, 3 losses, 2 draws and 23 knockouts, while Sassou's record shows 30 wins, 17 defeats, 4 draws and 8 knockouts. No venue or location was disclosed. Cordoba has not fought since last November's split decision loss to Guillermo Rigondeaux. Sassou spent most of his career in France, but his last four bouts have taken place in the UK against unbeaten boxers. He went 1-3, losing decisions to Joe Murray, Scott Quigg and Patrick Hyland.
