World rated Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista, ranked No. 2 super bantamweight by the WBO will fight on the undercard of the IBO light welterweight battle between Ricky “ The Hitman” Hatton (44-1, 31 KO’s) ands Paul Malignaggi (25-1, 5 KO’s) at the MGM Grand on November 22.
Young Michael Aldeguer told insidesports.ph, Manila Standard and Viva Sports that the ALA Gym was finalizing details of his possible opponent with Golden Boy Promotions and working out details with the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN which has the exclusive rights to the television coverage in the Philippines.
At the same time Aldeguer who has taken over the mantle of leadership on a day-to-day basis from his respected father, boxing patron Tony Aldeguer, said they were also finalizing details of the WBO title eliminator between Z” The Dream” Gorres (28-2-2, 15 ‘s) who is ranked No. 2 by the WBO and Puerto Rico’s hard-hitting Jose Lopez (38-7-2, 32 KO’s) who is one notch below at No. 3, on December 5 also in Las Vegas.
The WBO title is currently held by Fernando Montiel who is expected to move up to bantamweight since he was having trouble making the 115 pound limit.
In the meantime promising prospects Michael Domingo, the WBO Oriental bantamweight champion and Philippine light welterweight champion Mark Jason Melligen are set to leave for Las Vegas on October 28 to train at the gym of former Cebu resident and trainer/cutman Tony Martin in preparation for upcoming fights in the US.
Aldeguer said they had rented a three-bedroom house in Vegas for the fighters to live so they wouldn’t have to travel between Cebu and the US every time theyt have a scheduled fight.
Trainers Edito and Edwin Villamor are expected to join Bautista and Gorres.
