Brand new WBC Silver champion René Alvarado (20-2, 14KOs) wants to get the opportunity to face full WBC featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez (55-8, 47KOs). “Gemelo” Alvarado conquered the WBC silver title with an unexpected knockout over hometown favorite and WBC mandatory challenger, Robinson "Robin" Castellanos, last Saturday night in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Regarding this fight, Alvarado said: “I was expecting a tough fight and so it was, Robinson is a great champion, he fought hard."
Alvarado was proudly wearing the WBC Silver belt he had conquered.
“I promised to return to Nicaragua with the belt and I kept my word. Now I hope Jhonny will grant me a fight for the title,” he said.
Gonzalez is likely to return at the end of March in Mexico, with the details still being worked out.
