Filipino southpaw Renan Trongco who is rated No. 5 flyweight by the World Boxing Council headlines a big fight card of promoter Gabriel "Bebot" Elorde at the Mall of Asia Arena on June 5.
Trongo will clash with Mexico's Moises "Taz" Calleros who went twelve rounds against current world WBO and IBF minimum weight champion Francisco Rodriguez Jr before Rodriguez won the title with a 10th round TKO of Merlito Sabillo on March 22, 2014 and grabbed the IBF crown with a twelve round unanimous decision over Katsunara Takayama last August 9 in Mexico.
Although Calleros' record is 10-6-1 with 5 knockouts he is known as a rugged, come forward fighter and typifies the warrior mentality of Mexican boxers and is expected to give the 26 year old Trongco a rough time.
Calleros is coming off a split decision win over Jorge Garcia last December 23 in a tune-up fight.
Trongco has a record of 16-4 with 9 knockouts and won the vacant WBC International title with a twelve round unanimous decision over China's Wang Xinghua on September 7, 2013 before scoring a 2nd round TKO over Jopher Marayanb on June 28, 2014 followed by a majority twelve round decision over J apan's Hayato Yamaguchi of September 27 last year, also at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Three championship bouts for vacant WBC Eurasia Pacific Boxing Council titles will add luster to the undercard with Chris Paulino facing Lolito Sonsona for the super flyweight title, Joe Misako taking on Edison Berwela for the super bantamweight title and Rolly Sumalpong clashing with JC Francisco for the minimum weight title.
