Junior welterweight contender Regis Prograis made short work of Wilfrido Buelvas, knocking him out in the first round Saturday night at the Hard Rock Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Prograis successfully defended his regional title belt and improves to 19-0, 16 KOs. Buelvas falls to 18-7, 12 KOs.
A straight right hand from Prograis to the top of the stomach dropped Buelvas to the canvas. Buelvas was counted out.
Prograis, who is ranked number eight by the WBC, has now stopped his last four opponents and 12 of his last 13 opponents.
Buelvas, who is from Colombia, has lost six of his last nine bouts.
Former light heavyweight world title challenger returned to the ring from an 18-month hiatus to stop Martin Verdin in the first round.
Agnew, who was stopped by Sergey Kovalev back in March of 2014, goes to 29-2, 15 KOs. Verdin falls to 21-20-2, 11 KOs.
Junior middleweight Eric Walker (15-0, 8 KOs) of nearby Plaquemine stopped Zack Kuhn (9-4-1, 4 KOs) in the second round.
