Veteran welterweight Tata Regatuna who collapsed in the ring in what well-known journalist/boxing manager and matchmaker Joe Koizumi referred to as “ bizarre KO because of a delayed reaction” is “OK” according to Koizumi himself.
Koizumi informed Viva Sports/Manila Standard that he had “sent him off at the airport” and he Regatuna was alright. Referring to the fight in which the 36 year old Regatuna was knocked out at 2:14 of the very first round by hard-hitting Japanese southpaw Takuji Matsuhashi said “ I thought he could stand up, but didn’t.”
Koizumi said Regatuna had his back to the corner “turned around into the center of the ring and abruptly collapsed for the count.” Koizumi who is the manager of Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation super featherweight champion and WBC Nol. 3 Randy Suico disclosed that Suico will defend his title on March 26 in a promotion of Rex “Wakee” Salud in Cebu and said he was “booking a good challenger with good credentials,” in the face of reports that Suico was defending his title against “patsies.”
