WBA junior welterweight champion Gavin Rees (27-0, 13KOs) is calling out Ricky Hatton (43-1, 31KOs) for a UK style war. Rees wants a toe-to-toe England vs. Wales battle in the near future. If Hatton wants a title shot, Rees is willing to give him a crack.

"I'd love to get it on with Ricky. It would hand Ricky a shot at a title, it's a fight the British public will love, it'll be England v Wales and two warriors going toe-to-toe — it ticks all the boxes," Rees told The Sun. "The WBA belt is a very prestigious world title so why wouldn't Ricky fancy going for it? I want the big fights and it would be a right tear-up. I'm a quality boxer who would love to give Ricky a right going over — and I believe I'd beat him."

Rees returns to the ring against mandatory Andreas Kotelnik on January 8 in Dusseldorf, Germany. Enzo Calzaghe, father and trainer of Joe Calzaghe, trains Rees. The 27-year-old champion feels it's the right time for Hatton to make the fight happen. Rees told the paper if Hatton wants a title, he can come and get it.

"If anyone thinks Ricky versus me would be a mismatch, then they're having a laugh," Rees said. "I respect Ricky, he's an incredible boxer and showed great courage by putting his reputation on the line to fight Mayweather. But now he's looking for a title, he might like a go at me."
