Pittsburgh veteran light heavyweight Rayco "War" Saunders (20-14-2, 8 KOs) will promote and headline a card on Pittsburgh's South Side on Thursday, July 28. His opponent will be former title contender Daniel Judah (23-7-3, 10 KOs) of the well-known boxing family out of Brooklyn.
Saunders and Judah have faced the best of the light heavyweight division, but recent losses by both underscore the importance of a win in this bout. Saunders had a four fight winning streak snapped by emerging light heavyweight Ismayl Syllakh in December, and he went the distance again in a decision loss to Edison "Pantera" Miranda last month in Atlantic City.
Judah also lost last year to Syllakh, one of the sport's bright new prospects, in a bout for the NABF title, and he comes off of a points loss to Elvir Muriqi in New York in November.
The card, to be held at Carson Street Live (formerly Matrix), will start with the first bell at 8:00 and will feature other local notables, including Washington, Pa.'s heavyweight Jason "Iron Man" Bergman (15-9-2, 11 KOs), who stopped Horace Ray Grant in two rounds in his last outing.
