Dropping by on Monday morning at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, California, was lightweight contender Ray Beltran. The last time we saw Beltran was on May 1st, 2015 when he blew out Takahiro Ao in two rounds at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.
After that fight he tested positive for anabolic steroids and was suspended by the commission. It looks like he is ready to resume his career at age 34.
"I'm just staying in shape and I just got a call that there's a possibility I'll fight May 21st in Laredo, Texas. I'm just waiting on confirmation,"said Beltran, who has a record of 29-7-1(17 KO's). "I'm clear now, I'm ready to go.
A source at Top Rank confirmed that Beltran will headline this edition of 'Solo Boxeo' on UniMas on this date.
Beltran says he will remain a lightweight.
"We're looking for the world title but I've heard about Felix Verdejo. Honestly, I've got respect for him, he's a good fighter, a good prospect but I don't think they'll put him with me anytime soon," he told BoxingScene.com.
