Fresh off his second round TKO of Ivan Najera on May 21st, lightweight contender Ray Beltran (30-7-1, 18KOs) is now back at the Wild Card Boxing Club preparing for his next assignment.
"We're fighting September 10th and we're getting ready for it and we're looking forward to a title shot,"said Beltran, just outside the world famous gym on Monday morning before his days training.
The card that Beltran has been placed on by Top Rank takes place at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino and is part of their 'Solo Boxeo' series on UniMas.
The 35-year old Beltran served a year-long suspension for testing positive for stanozolol after his bout with Takahiro Ao on May 1st of 2015. That fight - which was originally a second round knockout for Beltran - was later overturned into a no-contest. He returned to the ring against Najera on May 2st in Laredo, Texas.
Beltran says he plans to compete at the 135-pound class but will remain flexible with his options,"Yeah, I can stay at lightweight but we can go up to 140. I feel good at 140, too. I feel if I fight at 140 I'll feel stronger."
