Airtight Boxing and Steve 'Match Makin' Mestas have their next show scheduled for Friday, May 29th at the Radisson in Aurora, Colorado. The main event will see Raul 'Chino' Carillo, 15-1, 8KOs, right back in action after his TKO win over tough journeyman, Tyler Pogline. Carillo will take on Johnny 'The Punisher' Rodriguez, 2-1, 2KOS. Rodriguez debuted in 2002 and fought once before disappearing for 13 years. He came back and lost a decision to Ricardo Reyes. This one is scheduled for eight rounds at welterweight.
The undercard has some very interesting local action. Heavyweights Kenny 'Sagrado Warrior' Lemos will face power punching Hugo Arceo. Lemos is a veteran, coming from the St. Joes Boxing Club with other standouts such as Larry Gonzales and Manuel Perez. Lemos is 12-9-2, 8KOS and has been in the ring with some of the best in the division including Chris Arreola, Andy Ruiz and James Toney. Arceo is heavy handed and can crack with both fists. He is 5-1-1, 4KOs and only Rudy Zapata has seen the final bell. His lone loss came to Donovan Dennis on the Alvarado-Provodnikov undercard. Dennis is in the finals of the heavyweight Boxcino tourney on ESPN, with both wins coming by brutal KO. This one is scheduled for four rounds.
Another interesting match up is between females Maureen Riordan, 1-1, and Angela Hayes, 1-1-1. Riordan is fresh off her Invicta debut and will look to make a statement. Hayes has fought Brittany 'Pretty Girl' Cruz twice, the last a hotly contested six round draw. This one is scheduled for four rounds at 128 pounds. Stevie Marquez, from the fighting Marquez family of Colorado will make a return to the ring after a three year absence. Marquez, 9-17-2, 6KOs, will take on New Mexico's Steve Victor, 1-5-1, who lost a decision in his last trip to Colorado. This fight is scheduled for four rounds at 154 pounds. Other action includes Josh Wilson from the Old School Boxing Gym in Colorado Springs making his pro debut at lightweight against Eddie Moreno, 1-1. 'Terrible' Tommy Atencio, 7-8-1, 4KOs, will look to put out the 'comeback flame' of Art 'Vicious' Cruz, 23-17-4, 12KOs. Cruz has been in the ring with a 'who's who' of boxing including Juan Diaz and Steve Forbes. He has an itch to fight, it never leaves a boxing warrior, and Atencio is willing to accommodate him.
The fight card is schedule for Friday, May 29th at the Radisson Hotel located in Aurora at 3155 South Vaughn Way. The doors open and 6:30 with the first bell at 7:30. Tickets are $30, $40 and $50 with VIP tables available as well. For ticket information go to TicketsWest.com or call Steve Mestas at 720-298-1954.
