The war of words between IBF welterweight champion Randall Bailey (43-7, 37KOs) and Devon Alexander (23-1, 13KOs) has been brewing over the past few months. While most insiders agree that Alexander will be able to outbox the reigning champion, they also know that Bailey's right hand could end the fight at any time. BoxingScene recently caught up with Bailey who feels that the fight will be very entertaining up until he ends it when his big shot eventually lands.
"Yeah it's gonna be a good one until I knock him out. Trust me," Bailey confidently stated.
Alexander isn't afraid to mix it up with his opponents. He stood and traded with Lucas Matthysse and Andriy Kotelnik with varying degrees of success. He also stood his ground in his dominating wins over the hard hitting Marcos Maidana and Juan Urango, proving once again that he doesn't mind taking a punch to land one. Bailey feels that factor will be Alexander's down fall.
"I been telling St. Louis that (Alexander gets hit a lot) but they don't listen so I gotta show them (laughing). Man, I won't lie to you. I'm gonna knock him out," Bailey told BoxingScene.
Bailey said that his power even impressed the Showtime crew that came to interview him during his training camp. He also said that there is no way Alexander will be able to withstand his power.
"I did my Showtime interview and they was watching me train a little bit. They was watching me punch and they was like 'damn' when they heard the sound of my punches (laughing). Man I'm telling you, I'm gonna crush this dude," Bailey concluded.
Bailey-Alexander takes place on September 8th at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and will be broadcast by Showtime.
