TIJUANA, BC - As part of the Bicentennial celebration of Mexico's 200 years of independence, Zanfer Promotions will put on an explosive evening with seven fights on Saturday, September 25 in the Forum located in the heart of Tijuana, Mex. The event will be broadcast nationally in Mexico by TV Azteca. In the main event, junior flyweight Hirales Ramon Garcia (13-1-1, 8KOs) will defend the interim WBO belt against the experienced Manuel "Chango" Vargas (28-5-1, 13KOs)in a twelve round contest.
Hirales Garcia of La Paz, Mexico, captured the title in July when won a split decision against Casimero Johnriel in Los Mochis, Mex, while Vargas of Jalisco, has faced tough rivals like Nonito Donaire, Donnie Nietes and Edgar Sosa, and just stopped Michael Arango last month in six rounds.
In the co-feature, agreed to for ten rounds, Humberto "Betillo" Gutierrez (27-2-1, 20KOs) of Los Mochis, but living in Tijuana, faced his hardest test against Rene "Chirizo" Gonzalez (27-2-1, 21KOs) from Managua, Nicaragua, in a knockout war.
In his return to Tijuana, super flyweight David "Arrow" Gaspar will go against Cecilio Santos (24-15-3, 14KOs) of Mexico City over ten rounds.
In a special bout, Jose "Tiger" Cayetano (7-0, 2KOs) shall be measured against Sergio Najera (3-3, 1KO), both of Tijuana, in a six round bout.
Unbeaten flyweight Maximino Flores (7-0, 6KOs) and super lightweight Victor Garcia (3-0, 2KOs) will also see action against opponents to be named.
The Forum is located on Avenida Revolucion in Downtown Tijuana, Mex. Tickets available at the box office in the Forum and the event begins to roar at 6pm.
