Mexican super middleweight contender Gilberto "Zurdo 'Ramirez (33-0, 24KOs), who hopes to become Mexico's first super middleweight champion, has no issue with traveling to Germany for his mandatory shot against Arthur Abraham, the champion of the division under the World Boxing Organization.
Last month in Las Vegas, Ramirez won a decision over Gevorg Khantikian to stay busy. Abraham also had a win last month, with a tough decision victory over British boxer Martin Murray.
Abraham had a very solid 2015 with wins over Murray, Robert Stieglitz and Paul Smith.
Ramirez hold the WBO's International world title at 168 and sanctioning body already ordered Abraham to face him in the coming months.
"I hope my next fight is for the world championship, that's my dream," said Ramirez to ESPN Deportes. "I know that Arthur Abraham is a strong fighter who comes forward, but we have a good strategy and we know how to fight him and we want that opportunity."
"I have the opportunity to make history and that's added motivation, to become the first Mexican to be a world champion at 168 pounds. I would like to leave a mark on the sport."
