According to the handlers of Daniel Ponce De Leon (35-2, 31KOs), a fight is the works with Rafael Marquez (37-5, 33KOs), in a possible super bantamweight title eliminator or for some kind of a world title. Ponce De Leon is trying to rebuild since a first round knockout loss to Juan Manuel Lopez last June. He returned in November to stop Damian David Marchiano.
Ponce De Leon's handlers informed ESTO that Golden Boy Promotions is trying to secure the battle of former champions with Marquez. He plans to return to the ring on March 14, though he's not sure if that would be against Marquez, but he wants a big fight after that date. Marquez has been inactive since last March's fight of the year brawl with Israel Vazquez.
