Dr. Plutarco Gatica, who was responsible for diagnosing the injury that Rafael Marquez suffered on the thumb of his right hand, said the former super bantamweight champion has improved by leaps and bounds, and that is about to be cleared to begin full training for his upcoming fight with WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez on November 6.
"Marquez is going to win. Rafa expressed concern about the possibility of not being ready for November 6, the new date for his fight in Las Vegas against Juanma López. However, I told him not to worry, to have a great time preparing his physical condition, and the sprain that you suffered, you are not going to remember it."
Marquez can not hit anything with the injured hand, but he does not neglect his training. He runs every day and is working hard in the gym to stay in shape.
Rafael has a doctor's appointment for next week, and a series of x-rays will determine if he is fully cleared.
