According to Ignacio "Nacho" Beristain, talks are taking place for the return of former super bantamweight champion Rafael Marquez, tentative to take place at the end of February. Two weeks ago, Beristain told reporters that Marquez was targeting a fight with WBA/IBF champion Celestino Caballero.
After going through three wars with Israel Vazquez, Beristain says that his fighter was examined by several doctors and was given a clean bill of health to return to the ring.
"There are no physical problems with Rafael. After his last fight with Israel Vazquez, he was submitted to go through a series of medical exams in the United States, and left the country in perfect condition. Rafael was examined in the United States and has everything in order. We have already we begun negotiations to fight at the end of February in the United States," Beristain told ESTO.
