Former IBF world minimum weight champion Muhammad Rachman of Indonesia isn’t going to leave the outcome of his fight against WBO No. 1 ranked Milam Melindo of the famed ALA Gym in the hands of the judges and is going for a knockout in their eagerly-awaited “Judgment Day” at the plush Waterfront Hotel on Saturday.

At a news conference at the Waterfront, Rachman whp spoke through his manager/interpreter Martinez Dos Santos said he won’t take any chances and is optimistic about winning by knockout.

Rachman reiterated his plan to use stylish Milan Melindo as a “stepping-stone” for a future world title fight against Thailand ’s WBC champion Oleydong Sithsamerchai.

Rachman said he has trained long and hard for the fight against Melindo and said that although the 21 year old Filipino is a good fighter he lacks the experience that the Indonesian fighter can fall back on having a record of 62-6-5 with 31 knockouts.

Melindo who is just 21 compared to the 37 year old Rachman,  has a record of 17-0 with 5 knockouts. The skilled WBO Asia Pacific champion said he will do his talking in the ring and then Rachman will know that it was he who would use Rachman as a stepping stone.

In the main event stylish Z “The Dream” Gorres who says he is “bigger and stronger and a lot more confident” after moving up to bantamweight clashes with former world minimum weight champion  Roberto Carlos Leyva.

The Mexican who has had an up-and-down career during which he has dropped fights against elite minimum and bantamweight fighters including a hard-fought twelve round decision to Ivan Hernandez in a WBC title eliminator in April 2006 said he had trained two months for this fight and promised that “like all Mexican fighters, this will be a war.”

Leyva has a record of 25-8-1 with 20 knockouts while Gorres boasts of a record of 28-2-2 with 15 knockouts. They will be battling for the vacant WBO Oriental bantamweight crown.

Leyva said he and other Mexicans remember Gorres’ fine showing against WBO super  flyweight champion Fernando Montiel and had “a great deal of respect for Gorres after that fight.”

Most ringside observers believe Gorres was ribbed of victory in a clash that ended in a split decision.

The fights will be telecast by the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN over Studio 23 beginning at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday with a replay at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday over Channel 2.
