Carlos Quintana wanted a higher catch-weight for his December 5 bout with Joshua Clottey. The fight will open up the HBO televised card that features Kelly Pavlik-Paul Williams in the main event from the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. The former welterweight champions will meet at the catch-weight of 149-pounds in a ten round contest.

Quintana has been fighting at junior middleweight since last October and appears to have become comfortable at that weight. He tried to get a catch-weight of 151 but the request was turned down by Clottey's side.

"We wanted the fight at 151-pounds, but Clottey's people did not accept," Quintana said to Primera Hora.

He was due to return on October 24 in Puerto Rico against Jesse Feliciano. That fight will have to wait. Quintana said the chance to fight a guy like Clottey was too good to pass up.

"This is a good opportunity for me. I have spent almost a year without fighting. [With the fight in] December, it will give me enough time to prepare well. Joshua is a strong fighter with good defense and we must be very prepared," Quintana said.
