Former welterweight champion Carlos Quintana is in great shape as he heads to Florida for Saturday's fight against WBC champion Andre Berto. Quintana has been fighting as a junior middleweight but agreed to drop in weight for the Berto opportunity. He weighed 148-pounds on Wednesday; only one pound under the welterweight limit. Quintana expects no problems with making weight on Friday.

Quintana's trainer Jose Bonilla is very pleased with their training camp for Berto. He said Quintana's strong ability as a runner helps keep him in shape and shed off the weight with no problems involved.

"Today we ran for about 40 minutes and then we got to the gym to hit the bag, jump rope and hit the pads and we're at 148 pounds and leaving very comfortable for Florida. It's no a secret. A lot people know that 'El Indio' runs very well and for this fight there was no exception. The track work has been great for this fight as we look to be explosive and to have stamina," Bonilla told Vocero.

Bonilla knows Berto, who is undefeated, will present a very tough fight, but Quintana has beaten other undefeated fighters in the past like Paul Williams and Joel Julio.

"Quintana is a fighter who has beaten world class boxers. We know that Berto is not going to be an easy fight and that is why we have prepared ourselves in such a strong way," Bonilla said.
