Tony Quigley has pulled out of Prizefighter due to concerns over his ability to safely make the 168lb weight limit reports the Liverpool Echo. Quigley has revealed that he dropped 12lbs in the build-up to his comeback fight against Artsiom Salomka on Saturday night and felt the pinch during the four round draw.
“I knew before the weekend’s fight that Prizefighter was going to be beyond me because I couldn’t even warm up. But I needed to get that fight under my belt to get into Prizefighter, which is what I really wanted. Walking up the stairs was hurting me and my kidneys were in pain with all the dehydration. I wasn’t even one percent on Saturday night. I know it was a gamble but it was one I felt I had to take. On reflection I was asking a bit much of myself but I thought I could do it," revealed Liverpool's Quigley when speaking to the Echo.
Prizefighter: The Super-Middleweights takes place on March 23 at Liverpool's Olympia venue.
