Not every war takes place in the United States. Last week we saw a war between Bernard Dunne and Ricardo Cordoba in Ireland. This week it was Tony Quigley (13-1, 6KOs) stopping Tony Dodson (24-5, 12KOs) in the twelfth round to capture the vacant British super middleweight title at the Liverpool Echo Arena.

After a fast start, Quigley had down in the second and cut bad above the left eye, but the veteran battled back with hard combinations to pick up some of the next few rounds. In the sixth, he rocked Quigley pretty bad with a combination. The next few rounds turned into a back and forth brawl that had the crowd on edge. Dodson's cut was a problem as it continued to stream blood throughout the fight.

In the eleventh, Dodson was out of gas and Quigley worked him over and had him nearly ready to go as the bell hit. In the twelfth, Quigley went back on the attack and battered Dodson, sending him down three times before the fight was stopped by the ref.

"Tony Dodson's a warrior. I had to dig in deep, he was giving me a tough and hard fight. It took me the 12 rounds to eventually get past him, and I'm more than happy," Quigley said.
