New York - With a healed jaw, Scott Quigg (31-1-2, 23 KO's) looks to make an impact in the lower divisions of boxing. A November return date is being eyed for Quigg with the option to return at 122 or 126 pounds.
"I want to return in November and go where the big fights are and all the big fights are at 126," Quigg told BoxingScene.com. "Another thing is I been at 122 for 15 years so I can make the weight and I make it comfortable because I am disciplined but a move up wouldn't work."
Though if he returns at 122 lbs, Quigg would like to jump right back into a world title shot.
"The Rigondeaux's fight is definitely on the table," Quigg stated. "I know he's been mandated to fight Moises Flores so I don't know if he will take the fight. You know there's also a fight with Hugo Ruiz that's out there if I decide to stay at 122 and the new champion Jonathan Guzman, so there's definitely a world title fight I can go right back into at 122. Otherwise we'll go to look up the fights at 126."
The name Guillermo Rigondeaux does not normally come out of another fighter's mouth - but Quigg was not hesitant. He says he went the way of Frampton because of the magnitude of the fight.
"Without a doubt I'd take the fight," Quigg said of Rigondeuax. "When you coming through, me and Frampton were both unbeaten. Rigondeaux's a world class fighter, pound for pound best. If one of us would have got beat before me and Frampton fought each other, it would have took the shine off it. But now it's different. I'd definitely take that fight in a heart beat. I'm not going to kid myself and try to outpoint him but I'll apply the pressure and try and take him out. So yeah, I definitely would take the fight."
Though should he move up, Quigg eyes a showdown with Gary Russell Jr. in the United States.
"I'd say Gary Russell is the best at 126. I definitely come to the U.S. to fight Gary Russell. I've always wanted to come to the U.S. I told Eddie I wanted to come over to fight in the U.S."
