British super bantamweight champion Scott Quigg is ready to fight as soon as possible, according to his trainer Joe Gallagher. Quigg's defense from Saturday night was stopped in the third round after a bad clash of heads left Rendall Munroe with a serious cut. Gallagher has called on Quigg's promoter, Ricky Hatton, to place him on the undercard of Amir Khan’s fight with Danny Garcia at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas on July 14. Gallagher trains Quigg out of Khan’s Gloves gym in Bolton,
“Ricky Hatton’s promotions company have a very good relationship with Amir Khan’s promoters and Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya, who is putting on the Khan fight in Las Vegas, so there are avenues to explore there,” said Gallagher to Bury Times.
“It would be great if there was an opportunity to fight in America and introduce him to American fight fans – whether it was an eight-rounder, a 10-rounder or for the WBA belt interim, I’m not that fussed. I don’t want him hanging around all summer. I just want him to get out there again before coming back for the rematch with Rendall.”
