A bout between Scott Quigg and Carl Frampton would be one of the more anticipated match-ups that could be made in the UK. Both are undefeated and possess major title belts. However, like many other potential bouts what keep them from becoming a reality is the business of boxing.

For the last year or so as both have built their records and stated their case as the best super bantamweight from this part of the world, they have circled around each other and spoke often of facing each other. But they don't seem any closer to consummating this fight.

When Quigg - who's currently in Southern California - was asked if he felt he would ever fight Frampton, he contemplated the question before stating - "I believe ( Frampton) wants the fight, but will it happen? That's a 50-50 chance because the big problem is Barry McGuigan."

McGuigan, the former featherweight champion during his days as a fighter, now manages Frampton.

"Listen," said Joe Gallagher, the trainer and manager for Quigg, who holds a version of the WBA title. "We made a very good offer to Carl Frampton and Team McGuigan, 1.5 million pounds. That's $2.2 million (American dollars), that's more than some of Mayweather's opponents. It's a fantastic offer and it wasn't good enough. If it doesn't work with that type of money on the table....listen, I feel  Carl wants the fight but I do feel that the problem was the check was made to Carl Frampton and not to Barry McGuigan."

Currently, Quigg is in discussions to face Nonito Donaire in November and it's not clear what the future holds for both fighters or if they will stay in the same weight division much longer.

"I think this fight may not happen, there's a window to make it happen - it didn't happen,"stated Gallagher.

Back on July 18th, while Frampton had to get off the canvas twice to out-point Alejandro Gonzalez Jr. in El Paso, Texas, Quigg blew out Kiko Martinez in two rounds in Manchester.
