The Ghana Boxing Authority held their annual national awards to honor Ghana based fighters from 2005/2006 boxing season.

Among the awards winners were Fit Square Boxing Gym, as the best boxing gym for 2005, Albert Mensah for best boxer in the 2005 Mortein Professional Boxing League and Ike Quartey, who returns against Winky Wright in December, was named the country’s best boxer for 2005.

Joshua Clottey, who returns against WBO welterweight champion Antonio Margarito, was named as Ghana's most outstanding fighter and a hero’s award was given to Ghana’s John Allotei Coffie, who has served as WBC life vice president for 18 years.

The night was soured with a negative note when robbers broke into Ike Quartey’s Lexus automobile, and stole numerous valuables from his car, including $1,700.00 in cash. The robbers made a clean escape and have yet to be caught.
