Denzel Bentley’s trainer Martin Bowers expects purse bids to be ordered by the WBO for an eliminator between his fighter and Endry Saavedra of Venezuela.

It was earlier in April when the sanctioning body officially ordered an eliminator for the middleweight title held by Zhanibek Alimkhanuly.

Queensberry Promotions, who guide the career of England’s Bentley, 30, and Saavedra’s promoters No Limit are yet to agree terms, and Bowers doesn’t expect them to do so before the WBO’s 20-day negotiation period concludes. The minimum bid set by the WBO for the fight is $200,000.

“We’re just waiting for the purse bids,” Bowers told BoxingScene. “It should be this week. It’s going to be forced to go to purse bids.

“He’d like to get Janibek again. But Janibek – he was going to fight [Carlos] Adames but now Adames is not fighting by all accounts, so we’ll have to wait and see.”

The 34-year-old Saavedra stopped Mikkel Nielsen in April in Australia.
