By the time Ruslan Provodnikov and Lucas Matthysse touch'em up on Saturday night at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, New York, promoter Artie Pelullo is expecting an overflow crowd to be inside the venue for this HBO main event.
"They were actually sold-out and they are making available maybe another couple hundred tickets, they're putting in bleachers or something," said the veteran promoter, who's company Banner Promotions is co-promoting this event with Golden Boy.
Both companies preferred to have this event take place at the StubHub Center in Carson, California but found that the venue was booked (as they are hosting the fight between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Andrzej Fonfara) and they ended up in upstate New York. Pelullo has promoted many events at the Turning Stone throughout the years.
"It's the first time ever Turning Stone has ever sold-out for any boxing event. They'll have over 5,000 there."
