There had been a lot of talk surrounding a possible fight between Ruslan Provodnikov and Amir Khan on November 7th or December 12th at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, New York, that would be televised by Showtime.
Artie Pelullo, the head of Banner Promotions that represents Provodnikov told BoxingScene.com from his offices in Philadelphia - "Here's what I know, we're all-in for Provodnikov fighting Khan and basically we were told that they had till this weekend to convince Khan."
Well, it turns out that Dan Rafael of ESPN.com during his weekly chat had revealed that Khan had stated to him that he would not be facing 'the Siberian Rocky'. So it seems that Provodnikov's quest to find a marquee opponent continues. But Pelullo isn't all that concerned.
"As far as I'm concerned we're going forward with Showtime and we're going to find another opponent that [Showtime Sports head] Stephen Espinoza likes for Ruslan to make his debut on Showtime," said the veteran promoter.
The hard-hitting Provodnikov last fought on April 18th where he dropped a close, hard-fought decision to Lucas Matthysse in an HBO televised main event.
