The NY Daily News is reporting that the proposed match between IBF heavyweight champion Chris Byrd and Wladimir Klitschko is far from a done deal.

The fight has a tenative date of April 16 but there are several issues that have to be worked out. One of the biggest issues is the fight venue. Klitschko's people want the fight in Germany, Byrd refuses to stage to stage the fight in Germany. The article claims that Byrd, who fought against both Vitali and Wladimir in Germany, suspects that he got sick prior to both bouts because of illegal antics on the part of Klitschko's promoters.

Byrd's lawyer, John Hornewer, said he has not discussed anything with Byrd's promoter Don King about Byrd's next opponent.

"Don has been busy and has been unavailable. We have had no word on that fight (Wladimir Klitschko). And we still haven't had a discussion with Don about Chris' next fight." said Hornewer

Don King contradicted Hornewer and said that he already faxed a contract for the Klitschko fight to Hornewer.

"He's getting his minimum, $2.5 million, and now he wants to pick where he's fighting? That's crazy. He'll be fighting on April 16 unless he's absolutely crazy." said King
