Puerto Rican welterweight (147 pounds) prospect Prichard 'Digget' Colon (12-0, 10KO's) has retained the services the experienced Cuban trainer Pedro Luis Diaz. The Cuban coach previously trained former four division world champion Miguel Cotto among others. Colon's career is guided by powerful boxer adviser Al Haymon.
"We are entering a new phase of my career. I learned a lot with my father (Richard Colón) and together we decided to take the next step. We hired Pedro Luis Diaz, who is one of the best coaches in the world, and we are excited about this new phase," said the young boxer 22 years of age.
"My team will remain intact. My brother Richard (Columbus) and dad will remain in my corner. I'm adding in Pedro Luis Diaz as head coach, to develop myself towards the goal of becoming world champion. I know I'll have a lot of work and I know I will learn many new things. We are more 'ready' than ever. "
Prichard hopes to be back in the ring in mid-December.
"I am now in Miami working with Pedro Luis. I'll be fighting in December, most likely by mid-month. That will be the first fight under the instructions of my new coach," he concluded saying.
