Preston’s Mike Hall is carrying the hopes of the boxing-starved city on his shoulders as he seeks to make it in the pro game.  Hall, a middleweight, dispatched Heanor’s Scott Churchill in four-rounds at Sutton Sports Centre, Saint Helens on Saturday night.  Hall’s trainer, Joe Kilshaw, has told lep.co.uk that his charge can generate a lot of support in the local area, especially if he keeps tucking guys away.

“Mick was top of the bill at St Helens and it was a fabulous night,” said Kilshaw.  “There was a large contingent of supporters from Preston cheering Mick on and it felt like a title fight.  It's good for Preston to have a professional boxer – there haven't been many for a few years now, and hopefully Mick can put the city on the boxing map.”

Hall, 23, will now seek to keep busy, keep winning and build up a following during the course of the next few years.
