The World Boxing Council has approved a request for a final title eliminator between silver champion Alexander Povetkin (28-1, 20KOs) and top contender Mike Perez (20-1-1, 12KOs).
On January 17th, WBC champion Bermane Stiverne is going to defend his title against mandatory challenger Deontay Wilder.
Bryant Jennings was previously ordered, by way of a split decision win over Perez in July, to face the Wilder-Stiverne winner.
However, Jennings is close to a deal to face WBO/IBO/WBA/IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko in April.
The WBC has ruled down, that if Klitschko-Jennings is finalized then Povetkin-Perez will be ordered.
