Povetkin Praises Mike Perez, Prepares To Start Camp

WBC #1 rated heavyweight and former WBA 'regular' heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin (28-1, 20 KOs), who is also ranked WBA #3 and IBF/WBO #8 heavyweight in addition to his #1 ranking by the TBRB, is getting ready for the a WBC heavyweight eliminator against WBC #2 Mike Perez (21-1-1, 13 KOs) of Cuba. The fight is tentatively planned for May 22 in Moscow, Russia.

“The fight should take place on May 22 but the contract has yet to be signed”, said Povetkin to TASS. He will start his preparations in early March, with the camp being placed in Kazakhstan.

“Perez is a good fighter with a solid punch”, concluded Povetkin. “It’ll be a tough fight against him”.
