It’s been a frustrating time for manager Henrik Risum, as securing the next fight for lightweight Kim Poulsen (9-1) under the right conditions have proven more troublesome than usual. Since it became clear that the fall-schedule laid out earlier in the year wouldn’t be possible when a promoter failed to live up to a signed deal with Risum Boxing, Risum has been working hard to work out an alternative route.
Now it is set that Poulsen will fight an opponent still to be decided on November 26 at the Café Royal in London, England, on a black-tie dinner-show promoted by Mickey Helliet’s Mayfair Sporting Club.
“Kim has boxed on Mickey’s promotions in London four times previously, and we really like the atmosphere of the shows and the whole city, so it will be a pleasure going back and we really want to thank Mickey for having us again. Kim is very hungry after his break following his fight in July, so we all expect a good performance from him on the 26th”, says Risum.
The opponent for Poulsen is not confirmed yet, as Helliet and Risum are working on finding the right boxer to give Poulsen a suitable challenge.
In the meantime the 21-year-old Dane will continue to prepare for his debut as an outright lightweight with trainer Brian Mathiasen, and Poulsen is feeling good ahead of what will be his eleventh professional outing
“I have been extra anxious to fight the last month or so, and the date and venue has changed a few times, so obviously it was good to get the final date and place even though I have known for a while that I will fight in November. I feel great, and I expect to have a good run-up to the fight as usual with good training and sparring, and I plan give a good performance in London. I love boxing at the Café Royal, the atmosphere is very special there, so I can’t wait”, says Poulsen.
KELL-Y IS A WEB HIT!
British welterweight champion Kell Brook is just one letter away from being one of the UK's sexiest women - and is becoming an on-line sensation because of it.
Brook, who fights Kevin McIntyre at Glasgow's Kelvin Hall on November 14, has had millions of web hits after fans typed in his name instead of that of model and actress Kelly Brook.
Surfers are finding a boxer rather than the brunette bombshell - now dating rugby ace Danny Cipriani - but don't seem to be disappointed.
Sheffield star Brook has seen his personal profile page on website frankwarren.tv take a massive jump in hits after Kelly Brook started dating Cipriani, and at one point the server went into meltdown as a result.
"Not only am I knocking them out in the ring, but I'm doing it on line as well!" said Brook.
"Kelly's a stunner, but I'm a good looking guy and I can punch as well.
"Anyway, I'm going to be world champion one day and more famous than Kelly Brook!"
Brook, undefeated in 17 fights, captured the British title against Barrie Jones at York Hall in June, winning via an impressive seventh-round TKO.
And now he travels to McIntyre's home city of Glasgow for what is turning into one of the domestic scene's biggest grudge matches.
McIntyre believes he should still be champion after being stripped by the BBBofC before Brook fought Jones in the summer.
"Both me and Kevin have had our say in the press, and it's got a bit heated," said Brook. "But the best place to settle our differences is in the ring."
"There's going to be needle up in Glasgow, but once I knock out McIntyre in style then there will be no question mark over who should be British champion."

Tony Quigley's Tall Order
Former amateur standout Tony Quigley has been added to promoter Frank Maloney's big boxing show taking place at Robin Park Centre in Wigan, England on Friday, November 7 but the super middleweight must clear a high hurdle if he is to advance upon his quest to win a domestic title.
The 24 year old product of famed Liverpool institution Tower Hill ABC has racked up a 11-1 (4) mark since turning professional in 2004 and has strung together four consecutive victories since the lone black mark on his career, a loss to current Commonwealth light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly, two years ago.
Quigley is coming off a good win over durable London based Ghanaian Ayitey Powers in June but must now overcome the challenge posed by six foot three inch tall Welshman Nathan King in a scheduled six round bout.
King, 12-11 (1), is noted for his ability to take a punch, an asset that has led to countless hours serving as the chief sparring partner to long-time world champion Joe Calzaghe, and the 27 year old from Mountain Ash, Wales narrowly missed derailing the comeback of ex-British titlist Tony Dodson last month by a single point.
In a classic boxer vs. brawler match-up, King will try to force the Liverpool prospect into the kind of high stakes trench warfare that nearly toppled Dodson and Quigley must punish his rival with a hail of leather if he is to come through this dangerous bout against a man with nothing to lose.
While it's impossible to predict which fighter will emerge the victor on November 7, it's a certainty that fans in attendance at Robin Park Centre will witness an exciting test of wills in this compelling small hall barn burner.
Frank Maloney Promotions presents "The Explosive Thin Men", featuring Andy Bell vs. Lee Haskins for the Super Flyweight Championship of Britain, supported by full undercard, at Robin Park Centre in Wigan, England on Friday, November 7, 2008.
Tickets are priced at £70 and £30 and are available by logging onto www.frankmaloney.com or by calling the Box Office at 0871 226 1508.
Sky Sports will televise the action live on SS1 starting at 9:30pm.
