LOS ANGELES -- After being soundly outclassed by Floyd Mayweather, many options remain for Robert Guerrero. After-all, a loss to the best fighter in the sport does little to damage the marketability and stock of a fighter.
Guerrero, 30, is now clear of gun charges after pleading guilty on Tuesday and his co-manager Luis DeCubas Jr., says Guerrero (31-2-1, 18 KOs) is already looking forward to his ring return, likely towards the end of the summer or September.
"The two biggest names in the whole division on this side of water are Mayweather and Robert, not including Pacquiao and Marquez," said DeCubas. "He's at the top of the division and there's tons of guys there, it's fully loaded. Whether it's the winner of (Marcos Maidana-Josesito Lopez), Victor Ortiz is a possibility, (Andre) Berto rematch is a possibility, Amir Khan. There's so many fights out there for him.
"Robert's doing great, he's taking a little time off with his family; he's had a real busy year," DeCubas continued. "It was his third fight in about 13 months, so he's going to take a little vacation and get right back in there. He really wants to get this behind him and fight a guy who wants to fight. Guys who will exchange with him and put on a real fan-friendly fight."
Among the choices, one matchup stands out to DeCubas.
"If I'm a fan, I think the most interesting fight is with Victor Ortiz -- two southpaws both from the Cali area, they both beat Berto," he said. "Victor got knocked out by Mayweather, Robert went the distance and did a lot better than him."
