Super middleweight contender Rogelio 'Porky' Medina (37-7, 31 KOs) came back in full force with a second round knockout of Ramon Olivas (13-5, 9 KOs) at the Gimnasio Solidaridad in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.
Medina, ranked in the top ten by the IBF and the WBC, is hoping to land some very big fights in 2017.
Medina (36-7, 30 KOs) has not fought since April 30, when he shocked a lot of experts by performing far better than expected when he took IBF World titleholder James DeGale to his very limit before losing a close twelve round decision in Washington, DC.
Prior to the loss to DeGale, Medina had won four in a row. Amongst those wins was Medina's third round knockout of J'Leon Love.
The 28-year-old Medina is ranked number nine by the WBC and number seven by the IBF.
"Porky is a humble, hard-working dude," Zanfer Promotions agent Sean Gibbons told BoxingScene.com. "[The Olivas] fight is getting him back in the groove for 2017. Porky has his sights set on big fights in the first quarter of 2017."
Olivas has not fought since his infamous first round loss to Jorge Kahwagi on July 11 of last year, a fight many speculate was staged.
