WBC flyweight champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam won a twelve round unanimous decision over mandatory challenger Edgar Sosa at the 11th Infantry Regiment in Bangkok, Thailand. To prepare for this fight, Pongsaklek, 34, trained for 109 rounds. He considered Sosa to be the toughest fight of his career.

Pongsaklek, who raised his record to 82-4-1 (45KOs), controlled the action, outworked the veteran from Mexico, threw accurate punches and he never lost his focus. The 32-year-old Sosa, who vowed to win by knockout within nine, was frustrated by the late rounds and to his credit he changed his strategy and began to score points, but it was too late in the fight to make a considerable dent on the scorecards. Sosa falls to 43-7, 26KOs.
