Former super bantamweight champion Daniel Ponce De Leon has made the big move to featherweight and is training in Juarez, Mexico for a tough bout with Ronet Caballero on September 5 in Caballero's home turf of Panama. The Roberto Duran Arena will host. The fight is scheduled to be a WBA eliminator.
Caballero has 8 defeats on his record. Since 2004, he lost once, a seven round TKO defeat at the hands of WBA champion Chris John. He does have power. Ponce De Leon says the tapes he watched showed that Caballero is very dangerous and he plans to keep a tight defense with a good guard. He says training is going well and there are no problems with weight.
"I completed ten rounds of sparring, but I plan to come down slowly keep on track for the weight," Ponce De Leon told ESTO.
