According a report on the Philboxing website, the rematch between WBO super bantamweight champion Daniel Ponce De Leon (33-1, 30KOs) and WBO bantamweight champ Gerry Penalosa (52-6-2, 35KOs) may happen sooner than most expect. The rematch was rumored to be happending in February of next year, but it now appears the fight may fall on the undercard to the Floyd Mayweather, Jr. vs. Ricky Hatton HBO pay-per-view, taking place on December 8 in Las Vegas.

Penalosa wants to avenge a unanimous decision loss to Ponce De Leon in March. He told the website that he was offered a contract for the bout with De Leon for the Dec. 8 show, but wants a little bit more money before he agrees to the fight.

"I am currently negotiating for my purse, plus tickets for six persons and accomodations. If the promoters can give me that, then we have a fight," Penalosa said.
