Two-time world champion Daniel Ponce de Leon (45-5, 35KOs) is expecting to return on March 8th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The evening will be headlined by Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, who comes back for the first time since losing a twelve round decision to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September. Ponce De Leon, now at super featherweight, would like to face WBC champion Takashi Miura of Japan.
"Golden Boy Promotions has told me that I could fight on March 8 when Canelo also comes back. I would love to fight Takashi Miura, who is the champion of the World Boxing Council and [Golden Boy] told me that they will explore that opportunity," Ponce De Leon said.
