According to a report by journalist Olivier Bossé, Canadian super featherweight champion Pier Olivier Cote (16-0) could return on the undercard of a scheduled event on July 9 in Romania. "If we can finalize the main battle of the event, it's our plan," said Jean Bédard, Chairman of InterBox.
The main battle will feature an IBF super middleweight title defense by Lucian Bute (28-0), against French boxer Jean Paul Mendy (29-0-1). However, a contractual issue involving two promoters which would be linked Mendy, could make the negotiations difficult.
Cote scored a big fourth round TKO win over Californian Aris Ambriz (15-2-1) on the May 7th undercard to Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
