After an impressive win in his last fight in November, Saul Rodriguez finally returns to the ring for his first fight of 2016.

Rodriguez will fight former work title challenger Daulis Prescott on May 14. The 10 round bout will take place at the Sportsmen's Lodge in Studio City, Calif. a suburb of Los Angeles. The Rodriguez-Prescott bout will top a 'Solo Boxeo Tecate' card and will be broadcast on UniMas.

Rodriguez (19-0-1, 14 KOs) won four bouts in 2015, with his last bout on November 20 being the most impressive to date. The Riverside, Calif. resident scored an emphatic first round stoppage win over Ivan Najera in Las Vegas.

Prior to the Rodriguez fight, Najera lost a 10 round decision to Felix Verdejo in June, a fight where he was dropped twice.

Rodriguez, who is trained by Robert Garcia, is considered one of Top Rank's top unbeaten prospects.

Prescott (31-3, 23 KOs) scored a third round knock out overmatched Yohangel Romero on March 11. Seven months prior to that bout, Romero was knocked out in the eighth round at the hands of Tevin Farmer.

Prescott, who fights out of Barranquilla, Colombia, was unsuccessful in his only attempt at a world title in December of 2012, losing to then-WBA featherweight world titleholder Nicholas Walters.
