BAYAMON, PUERTO RICO - The bantamweight champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), Wilfredo Vazquez Jr., went through the streets of his native Bayamon to speak with the people and to acknowledge the support provided for his bout on May 29 when he defends his belt against Hungarian Zsolt Bedak in the Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum in a card being presented by PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP) in association with All Star Boxing. Vazquez (18-0-1, 15 KOs) came with caravan from the Sports Complex Onofre Carballeira with his father Wilfredo Vazquez, family and his team on the road by various parts of the Town Chicharrón, where fans cheered him and waved.
"I am very happy with this, but I see this as a job, as I always say, I'm here working and looking for win to keep mine and to provide my family with a better future. But this is great and I appreciate the support given to me my people, "said a humble Vazquez Jr.
The important point was when the caravan passed through the grounds of the Residence Barbosa, where dozens of children and fans wrapped hugs around Vazquez Jr., who began to walk down the avenue with his townspeople, who showed his happiness at the side of World Champion.
Vazquez Jr. will defend his belt against the Hungarian Bedak (15-0 and five knockouts), ranked first in the WBO at 122 pounds in weight.
The co-star will be between junior lightweight champion of the WBO, Roman "Rocky" Martinez 23-0-1 and 14 knockouts against Gonzalo Mungía.
They will also be in action on the bill Hanna Gabriel females (9-0 and five KOs) of Costa Rica, against Dominican Gardy Pena (9-1-2 and six knockouts) for the WBO middleweight scepter in his field . The brothers McJoe (2-0 and a knockout) and McWilliams Arroyo (2-0, two KOs) will form part of the program, as well as six other matches.
