All fighters were on weight for Saturday’s show in Aguada, Puerto Rico, which serves as the next installment of Boxeo Al Maximo. The event will air live on Univision Puerto Rico.
In the main event, Josean Figueroa faces Jonell Nieves in a scheduled eight-round junior featherweight bout. Both fighters made weight, each coming in right at the 122 lb. divisional limit.
The bout is the first for Figueroa (8-3-2, 7KOs) since a surprise eight-round draw versus previously unbeaten Jose ‘Wonder Boy’ Lopez in February. The bout was his first in more than two years, also having serves as the first headliner of the Boxeo Al Maximo series.
“I am ready to fight anyone I feel great at this point of my career," Figueroa insists. “ I had a great performance against Jose Lopez (this) past February and now Hector and Miguel Cotto gave me this opportunity to fight in my hometown.”
The event is presented by Promociones Miguel Cotto and H2 Entertainment.
