Solis (31-2, 21 KOs) used his left jab well to master the distance against Ortiz (33-11, 21 KOs). Solis is rated # 1 by the IBF and this was a rematch of the 2006 fight in which Solis won by TKO in the ninth round in Guadalajara.

"I did not fully do everything I wanted to. I wanted to box and get into a rhythm, Ortiz is strong an he is an average boxer from the distance. I felt very loose and strong. This fight will prepare me for when I fight for a world title very soon," said former World Champion IBF flyweight.

The "Archie" kept Ortiz at bay, who visited the canvas in the eighth and tenth rounds, but both times he got up in good condition.

In the co-feature fight, Filipino star Mark Melligen (19-2, 13 KOs) defeated Agnes Adjaho by unanimous decision (18-3, 9 KOs) in ten rounds at welterweight.
