San Juan, Puerto Rico - The undefeated super welterweight prospect, the Puerto Rican Thomas Dulorme (13-0, 10KO's), is now enjoying his new role as an academic when he graduated, Summa Cum Laude, of The Lyceum of Arts and Technology school in Hato Rey, specializing as a Drafter (draftsman) with AutoCad.
"I'm very happy to achieve one of my lifelong dreams to graduate and have a profession. As an individual, regardless of whether you’re a boxer, you should seek to have options and I am happy to have this great achievement and to help secure my future, "said Dulorme, a native of Carolina.
"Boxing is my passion, is the force that makes me get up every morning, but I know that one day it all ends and I should be ready when it arrives," he said.
Dulorme, 22, also has four years invested in a Bachelors Degree at the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico (UPPR), with concentration in Civil Engineering. He is scheduled to resume his undergraduate studies in mid-2012.
"Drawing is my first love. My dad is an engineer and I grew up in that environment working with geometry and dealing with the spaces available. From small drawings and models I developed because I really loved what I was doing. Gradually I improved through specialized classes, and I jumped to formal education," he said.
Dulorme, while training boxing, remained with a grade average of 3.52 (average of A). He delayed his studies at the UPPR and enrolled at the Lyceum of Art and Technology in Hato Rey because he had to improve some aspects of his technical drawing, before completing his undergraduate degree.
"I went to the Lyceum because I wanted to improve and finish my studies with all the knowledge needed to practice my profession effectively," said Dulorme, promotional fighter represented Universal Promotions, Gary Shaw Productions and DiBella Entertianment.
The Feb. 17 marks the return of Dulorme, when he defends his NABA title of World Boxing Association, at 147 pounds, with the Mexican Jose Reynoso (15-3-1, 2 KO's), in a 10 round bout. He will be the main event on Showtime’s boxing series ShoBox: The New Generation at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California.
The co-feature falls on the undefeated 154-pound puncher, his compatriot Jonathan "Mantequilla" Gonzalez (14-0, 13 KO's), who faces Billy Lyell (24-10, 5KOs) in defense of his NABO title in a 10 round fight. Lyell has fought world class fighters such as Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. and James Kirkland.
