Earlier today in Las Vegas, Nevada, WBC junior middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez was spotted getting some lively work from sparring mate and former titlist Steve Forbes. The 21-year old Alvarez faces off with Shane Mosley on May 5th in the chief pay-per-view undercard attraction on the Floyd Mayweather-Miguel Cotto extravaganza at the MGM Grand.

Alvarez’s work with Forbes was definitely an interesting study, as the rounds swayed back and forth between being a heated chess match between the two fighters with moments of spirited, back and forth action in the trenches also taking place.

Forbes has sparred with some great fighters, including Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr., while having gone the distance as a professional against Oscar De La Hoya and Andre Berto, and pointed out that he feels Mosley will be surprised by Alvarez’s boxing IQ.
